A Few Words About Toastmasters

Each Toastmaster meeting is designed to encourage as many people as possible to speak in front of a supportive, caring audience. We learn from each other in this way and have fun too.

A typical meeting has three main activities:

Table Topics : These are short impromptu presentations generally 60 seconds in length for which each participant has only one minute preparation time.

Prepared Speeches : The Toastmasters manuals are designed to help each Club member build confidence by using a variety of public speaking skills. Some examples are the use of body language, expression through vocal variety and speech construction.

Evaluation : Each meeting participant is evaluated. This assessment is designed to develop and test our public speaking skills in a supportive environment through feedback from our peers.

These are not the only ways to take part in a meeting. As you will see many of the Club members are involved in the meeting as it progresses.
